INTRODUCTION TO THE COMPETITIONS MANAGER
Introduction
My name is Rob Cook & I am employed by Hampshire County Council as a Competitions Manager to work across The Mountbatten and The New Forest School Sports Partnership's. I am based jointly in 2 venues, The Mountbatten School Language & Sports College & Testwood Sports College.
There are a network of 7 Competitions Managers across the county based at different host secondary schools, all working in 1 or 2 School Sports Partnerships. We are headed up by 1 Senior Competitions Manager who manages us all at a strategic level.
Role & Responsibilities
Within both SSP's it is my job to work on inter school competition. I liaise and work closely with PDM's, SSCo's, PLT's & FESCo's across my 2 partnerships, looking at ways to increase competitive sport. The aim of the role is to give children and young people across all key stages up to the age of 19 the opportunity to access both high quality and appropriate school sport competition.
Our CM remit is also to work closely with governing bodies of sport to make sure that their Competition Structures are filtered down and operate at a local level. Each of the 7 Competitions Managers has 3 focus sports to lead on. My sports are: - golf; table tennis and football. As well as focusing on these 3 areas it is my responsibility to be involved in the co-ordination of all other sports competitions in my partnerships.
From a County perspective I also have an important role in ensuring that as many of my partnership competitions feed in to the county structure and produce a specific and relevant player pathway.
If anyone has any further questions or queries regarding the Competitions Manager role then I would be more than willing to answer them as fully & comprehensively as I can.
